'Cheers to a New Year and another chance to get it right' -Oprah Winfrey
I love New Years.. It's a chance to reflect on the past year and to set goals for the new. I posted the list of events I plan to compete in for the first quarter of 2013. At the same time, I made a list of all the events I participated in to date. Despite my struggle with weight, I'm so proud of the fact that I did not let it stop me from getting out of my comfort zone to do these events. I loved the feeling of pushing myself to accomplish these races. I will continue until my body says stop. I think I have a few good years left : )
2012 was full of emotion for me. I was extremely stressed during the first quarter. Mainly due from work, but also some issues with my parents. My dad had a heart attack in January and my mom had a bad bike accident in Feb that put her in a wheel chair for several months. She only recently started walking again. The second quarter was a bit better at work when I made to the decision to move departments, but then we decided to take advantage of the low housing market and interest rates. We did a refinance on our house and then decided to buy a bigger house. We were blessed that we did not need to sell our first house to buy the second, so I was able to move my parents in to the first so they would have a single level and be closer to me. The third quarter started with our big family trip to Costa Rica, which was stressful in itself, and then we came home to move two households. I then started my new position with a leader I have worked for on and off for 20 years (just LOVE her!). I also started addressing my binge eating issues and joined WW in Sept. The last quarter I focused on managing my seasonal depression, my overeating, consistency with my exercise routine, and getting ready for 1/1 (busiest season at work).
As I move into 2013, I feel I am in a much better place than I was a year ago. My stress is down significantly and I'm sleeping well at night. I love my job and the people I work with on a daily basis. My parents live just 2 miles away and now we have more space for our family of 4. I am motivated with my exercise routine and I am really focusing on my nutrition plan. I really feel I will have a successful 2013!
