My Favorite Things

Oprah can have a list of favorite things, so can I.    Here are a few of my favorite things....
(Funny that all my favs are fitness related)
New Sneakers

There is nothing like putting on a new pair of sneakers for its first workout.  I am not one of those ‘minimalist’ that want shoes to feel like you are running barefoot.  No way – bring on the cushion and the bounce.  I had to go through several brands before I found my favorite.  I started out with New Balance, then Nike, Asics, Brooks, before I found my fav, Saucony.  I usually get a fresh pair every 4 months or so.

Ipod Shuffle
I’ve always loved listening to music when I work out.  I can remember having the Sony Walkman cassette player when I was in high school.  How cool was I?  Now I use the Ipod Shuffle.  I love that it is so small – clip it to my ball cap.  I have 3 of them.  When I ran ½ marathons, I would wear 2, just in case one fizzled out, which they never did.   Always be prepared!

 Spin Bike

I attended my first Spin class just after my fast 5 years ago and I loved it!  I bought a Spin bike so I could also work out at home.  I worked out religiously on it for a long time.  I switch out my road bike for the spin bike when it gets to too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter.
Ipod Classic

I’ve had the Classic now for about 4 years and I still love it!  It has ALL my music, audio books, podcasts, and inspiration videos that get me motivated to exercise.  I plug it into my car on my commute and I use it at work when I really want to concentrate on a project.  Love it!!

Kindle Fire

I love my Fire.  I got this last Christmas from my mother and father in law.  I have my books, magazines, and I read my favorite blogs and catch up on my e-mails.

Specialized Dolce

I love my road bike.  When I first decided I wanted to do triathlons, I bought a vintage ten speed off Craigs list.  It was VERY heavy.  Then a very dear friend of mine gave me his Kestrel road bike.  Super light weight with the best components.  The problem with this was I was too short for it.  I’m 5’2” and the bike was really for someone 5’4”.  I road it for about a year, but then decided it really wasn’t safe.  So I invested in my own bike – Specialized Dolce 44cm.  Perfect size for me!

H2O Audio

My all time favorite thing – my H2O Audio which allows me to listen to music when I swim.  This was also a Christmas present from last year from my hubby.  One of my ipod shuffles is kept inside.   I was paranoid at first that the water proof seal would fail and destroy my ipod, but I have not had any problems.  I use it every time I swim, except during tri’s of course!
