My Favorite Place to Run

Just got back from our vacation to Texas.  My in-laws have a lake house on Lake LBJ, 50 miles outside Austin.  I LOVE the Hill Country of Texas-  rolling hills, grassy fields dotted with live oak and mesquite trees, and the lake! It is truly my happy place and high on my list for places to retire.

Lake house on the bottom.  T-Mart next to
Landmasters Real Estate at the top.

This is also home to my absolute favorite running path - the T-Mart loop.  It is a 5 mile loop that takes me from the lake house to the local grocery store called T-Mart and then back. It is a very hilly course which I love!  I first started doing this when I was training for my 1st half marathon in Nov 2006, when I was a walker.  I first started running on this very path in 2008. Every time we visit, I have to run this loop.  Technically I walk up the hills and then run down.  I did it 4 times this trip and enjoyed every hot sweaty minute!

It was a very active week.  In addition to running, I biked, swam and played with the kayak and Sea Duo.  By then end of Saturday, my fitbit was at 98,000 steps for the week.  I so wanted to hit the 100,000 mark, but I was soooo tired by the end of the day.  I liked to say I stayed true to my diet, but I didn't.  I did well for the first few days and even tracked on MyFitnessPal, but then the vacation-I-can-eat-whatever-I-want hit.  I did not experience a binge, but I ate whatever I wanted. Beer every night at happy hour, homemade peach ice cream, fried chicken, Texas BBQ, apple pie!  I've pretty much maintained my weight all year sticking to the LCHF diet, but I'm sure I gained some after this week. That scale anxiety is back, but vacation is over so it's time to get back on track!
