First 5k of 2013

This Saturday is starting off pretty good, I must say.  Got up early to go to my first 5k of 2013, Desert  Classic.   It has been a while since I ran a 5k.  I actually do run/walks now because I lost most of my running endurance.  My goal was to do it in 45 mins or less or a pace of 15 mins or less, and I met that goal at 44 mins for a pace of 14:12.  I hope to improve on this over the year and eventually get to the point where I can run the full 5k. I wore my new Garmin of course and it was interesting seeing how my pace changes as I switch between running and walking.  Amazed to see my fastest time was at a pace of 10:30.. never thought I could run that fast even for a short distance.

My weigh in at WW was just as good - down 2.6 lbs!  Happy to see the scale going down.  Did not meet my goal of down 5 lbs in Jan, but I'll take 3.2 lb loss over a gain for the month.  I got 5 workouts in:
                Sunday - bike 40 mins
                Monday - elliptical  45 mins
                Wednesday - swim 2,000 yrds 1 hr
                Friday - bike 40 mins
                Saturday - 5k run/walk  44mins
