April Goals

April is going to be a pretty busy month for me, so I'm taking some time to jot down some goals I would like to focus on.  I have 2 goals, improve my running and track more.

I suck at running, but I wouldn't necessarily say I hate it.  I hate the fact that the little endurance I did have when I was into running half marathons has left the building! I really want to get that back and improve on my speed.  While I'm not looking to run more half marathons, I do want to be able to run better 5 and 10ks.  This of course will also help with my Tri's.  I was focusing on making improvements last summer and I did see some, but then it fizzled out.  Running only 1 day a week has not do anything either.  So I am upping my training.  My goal is to run 3 times a week for a total of 10 miles per week.  Monday will be treadmill, Wed and Sat will be my hood runs. Weight training will be Tue and Fri and I'll try to get my swim in on Thursday.  Sunday is my recovery day, with an occasional bike ride here and there.   I will track my results on my Garmin.

Now tracking I do hate!  I am soooooooooo bad at it.  I start out strong in the morning and lunch, but then I give it up in the afternoon.  Goes along with my eating too... I'm all about high fat, moderate protein for breakfast and lunch, but then I hit too many carbs in the form of too many nuts and cheese in the afternoon.  They are my go to snacks when I'm too lazy to plan better choices.  So, I need to plan better choices and track that I am following through! 

So for my busy month I have a Sprint Tri on 4/12, a 25 mile bike event on 4/19, and a Dash and Splash on 4/27.   AND, I am hosting a 50th birthday party for my husband on the 12 and we celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary on 4/16!  Also, a dear friend of mine from back east is coming to stay with me 4/14-16. Yes, it is going to be a busy month!
