It has been 4 weeks since I started the Keto diet and I feel absolutely amazing! My energy level is consistently high throughout the day and one of the best side affects is the mental clarity that comes along at this level. I have a very analytical job and all I can say is I don't know when I've been more productive! I'm also having memories of things from a long time ago that are very clear... kind of spooky!
I have been testing my urine every day and this week I started testing my blood ketones. I'm at a 2 during the day which is most definitely in Nutritional Ketosis ( .5 - 3 is optimal). I have also been testing my glucose and blood pressure and they are totally in the normal range . I love seeing these results because it just proves the diet is working for me.. my body is burning fat. And it is showing on the scale as well.. down 10 lbs since I started on June 8th.
I ran my first event since becoming keto adaptive - 4th of July 4 miler. I was amazed at how I felt through the entire race. I had no need or desire to fuel the race or post race with carbohydrates. I had some peanut butter and some salt before the race. It was very hot, so the salt was definitely needed. Consistent energy through out. I can really feel my performance improving!
The depressed appetite has definitely been the key for me. Not having sugar cravings is big! I can really focus on my nutrition and what I need to fuel my body. I feel so in control! I have been binge free since I started. Life is really good!
