8 Weeks Binge Free

Today marks 8 weeks into my Keto journey.  Weight loss has been slowing down a bit, but it is still going down.  I'm down 13.4 lbs for an average of 1.6 lbs a week.  I've been in Nutritional Ketosis since day 4 and this week I was in the 3.1 to 3.3 range for blood ketones.  Optimal fat burning!

The best thing about this lifestyle for me is the elimination of sugar cravings which translates into the elimination of binges.  I have absolutely no desire to binge or eat off track.  I've never had this feeling of being in total control of my nutrition.  It is so empowering and motivating.  I no longer obsess about food. Instead I can focus on what I need to eat to keep me feeling strong, confident, and satisfied.  I have been so into my fitness routines to train for performance and I am seeing it. 

I took this past week off from work to spend some time with my girls before they go back to school. I set a vacation fitness goal and achieved it by swimming 10,000 yds over 5 days.  The best part was having my 11 year old join me in the pool 3 of the 5 days.  She has really blossomed in her swimming this summer, even earning the Coaches Award for her swim team.  We raced 100 yrd freestyle twice this week and I lost both times.  Perhaps with additional training, I can eventually take her. Maybe not, but it will be fun trying!
